The Workers Circle Outraged at Leaked Supreme Court Attack on Abortion Rights

(NEW YORK) — Ann Toback, CEO of the Workers Circle, released this statement following the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade:

“Our civil and human rights, under the 14th Amendment, are in grave jeopardy.”

“Last night, a draft Supreme Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade, was leaked. We know a majority of Supreme Court Justices are poised to undo 50 years of the constitutionally-guaranteed, legal right to an abortion.”

“At stake is whether our nation will protect every person’s fundamental right to civil liberty and equal protection under the law – from abortion to marriage equality to voting rights – regardless of what state they live in or who they are.”

“The Workers Circle remains committed to protecting the right to an abortion as a fundamental part of reproductive justice and human rights. We stand together with women’s, racial justice, and Jewish organizations, and people of conscience across this nation in expressing our outrage at this draft opinion and our determination to fight to protect this right and all our constitutional rights.”
