On December 12, 1965, Mayor of New York City Robert F. Wagner proclaimed that it was “Workmen’s Circle Day” in recognition of the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Workers Circle.
Mayor Wagner proclaimed that the Workers Circle had “an historic record of combating all forms of political tyranny and totalitarianism and human exploitation and is responsible for creating a climate within the United States of a deep sense of Jewish cultural values.”
Mayor Wagner also described the Workers Circle as “dedicated to perpetuating and fostering democratic tenets based on progressive liberal ideas.”
Today, the Workers Circle remains dedicated to combating political tyranny and preserving our democracy.
