Position Summary
The Workers Circle is seeking a National Organizer to advance our social justice work across the nation. In addition to contributing to outreach, education, and mobilization of grassroots activists as a part of our social justice team, the National Organizer will lead and grow our flagship “Talk to Your Sheriff” local accountability campaign focused on sheriffs and ending law enforcement cooperation with ICE. This organizer will play a central role in building a nationwide base of activists who are prepared to engage sheriffs directly, demand transparency, and push for policies that protect constitutional rights and immigrant communities.
This is a mid-level, full-time, remote position reporting to the Manager of Social Justice, with a preference for candidates who can work East Coast business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required. This is an exempt, union position.
Key Responsibilities
Build and scale the Talk To Your Sheriff campaign nationally, supporting activists to organize meetings, actions, and follow-up accountability efforts with local sheriffs.
Recruit, train, and support local leaders through one-on-one outreach, virtual meetings, and structured leadership development.
Design and facilitate virtual trainings on sheriff accountability, local law enforcement power, and constitutional rights.
Develop campaign materials including toolkits, meeting guides, talking points, and action plans.
Support activists in coordinating meetings with sheriffs and documenting outcomes, commitments, and next steps.
Collaborate with partner organizations and internal teams to align strategy, grassroots support, and messaging.
Track participation, engagement, and campaign progress; share insights to strengthen overall strategy and funding.
Contribute to broader social justice and democracy work.
Promoting and supporting democracy circles
Assisting with social justice immersions and educational programs
Supporting direct actions; protests, vigils etc.
Contributing to social media content, newsletters etc.
Qualifications
5-7 years of experience in grassroots organizing, political campaigns, or issue advocacy.
Strong relationship-building skills and comfort engaging people one-on-one remotely and in-person.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and timelines.
Self-directed, collaborative, and adaptable.
Familiarity with immigrant rights, policing, democracy, or constitutional issues strongly preferred.
Experience with virtual organizing tools (Mobilize, Zoom, CRM systems such as Bloomerang and Action Network) is a plus.
Compensation
Salary range is $65,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience, plus a generous and comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time, exempt, union position.
