Course Goals: This course continues the development of advanced beginner level skills, with a focus on strengthening grammatical understanding, increasing vocabulary, and fostering greater fluency in speaking, reading, and listening.

Course Tools: We’ll continue working through Yiddish: An Introduction to the Language, Literature, and Culture by Sheva Zucker. Starting with chapter 10A, we’ll complete Volume I (available for purchase here) and, depending on the group’s pace, begin Volume II (available for purchase here). Our work will combine structured grammar review with group practice of dialogs, reading of selected texts and songs, and discussion of cultural content. All lessons will be supported by supplementary materials provided by the instructor. 

Additional Info: This course is intended for students who have completed five or more semesters of Yiddish at the beginner level and are ready to continue building their skills using more complex texts. Prior knowledge of the alef-beys (the Yiddish alphabet) is required.
