Yiddish Song Workshop with Josh Waletzky: Dos tsebrokhene harts/Yiddish Songs of Heartbreak: Tuesday, 1:00 – 2:30 PM: July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Tuesday, 1:00 – 2:30 PM: July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Course Goals: "There is nothing so whole as a broken heart," a saying attributed to the Kotsker Rebbe. Come learn and explore Yiddish songs of heartbreak, in love and life. From achingly beautiful love songs, to songs grieving lost loved ones or lost hopes. In these times of great loss and danger, we are aware not only of the pain that visits our personal lives, but the pain that we live through as a human community in a fractious world — a world that seems headed toward a dark, uncertain future. Let's draw on the strength of spirit in our rich heritage of Yiddish song.
