Right now, the Supreme Court is preparing to decide Louisiana v. Callais, a critical voting rights case that directly threatens Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, the central safeguard against racially discriminatory redistricting.
If the Court strikes down Section 2, states across the country could pass and implement racially discriminatory maps with little to no federal protection. The consequences would be immediate and far-reaching, weakening one of the most important tools communities have to defend fair representation and multiracial democracy.
With so much on the line, this call will educate and mobilize people across the country to understand what’s at stake and what comes next!
You’ll hear from organizers leading the fight for voting rights in their communities, alongside movement leaders, policy experts, and communicators who will break down the case, the potential impacts of the ruling, and how we can prepare to defend fair maps and voting rights nationwide!
Join the Workers Circle and Declaration for American Democracy (DFAD) for a mass education call to get informed, get ready, and stand up for the future of the Voting Rights Act!
