Phonebank for Voting Rights

You’re invited to join the Workers Circle every Wednesday for voting rights phone banking.

Join us for Workers Circle phone banks every Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 PM ET. We work in partnership with the Center for Common Ground, a people of color-led organization that fights voter suppression and empowers underserved communities to connect voters of color with the information they need to vote by mail and to vote early in person. Early voting has already begun for the June 22 primary in Virginia. Last year Gov. Northam signed the Voting Rights Act of Virginia into law to address voter suppression and expand access to the ballot. Your help is needed to get the word out to voters of color in this historically vote-suppressed state.

It's easy and rewarding to connect with voters of color and provide essential information to help them navigate barriers to cast their vote. The Voting Rights Act of Virginia was passed into law last March. In stark contrast to other states, this law aims to eliminate voter suppression and intimidation. Virginia was the first state to enact its own version of the Voting Rights Act which included restoring rights to over 69,000 former felons and expanding language access – but after years of suppression, voters need to know they can eligible and where to vote. No experience is necessary; we’ll step you through how to do it. You can make calls from anywhere in the nation and enjoy the virtual community and support of Workers Circle activists while you do it.
