Join the Workers Circle at Yiddish New York, where Workers Circle Director of Yiddish Programming Kolya Borodulin will teach an Intermediate Yiddish course — World Travelers and Distinguished Literary Figures: Peretz Hirshbein and Esther Shumiatcher (or, af Yidish, Velt-vanderer un derhoybene literatur-perzenlekhkaytn: Peretz Hishrbein and Esther Schumiacher).

Kolya’s course will explore the fascinating life and creativity of an extraordinary couple, Peretz Hirshbein (1880 – 1948) and Esther Shumiacher (1896 – 1985) using multi-media. We will read, listen to, watch and discuss some of the intriguing examples of the couple’s literary creativity (plays, songs, films, memoirs, etc.) and the unforgettable impact of their world travels on the Yiddish world.
