Jewish Organizations Sign Moore v. Harper Statement, Rally at SCOTUS During Oral Argument

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A dozen Jewish organizations across the country have signed on to a non-partisan Jewish organizational statement on Moore v. Harper that included a commitment to mobilize for the #NoLawlessLawmakers rally outside the U.S. Supreme Court on December 7.
The statement was organized by The Workers Circle, a social justice organization that powers progressive Jewish identity through Jewish cultural engagement, Yiddish language learning, multigenerational education, and social justice activism.
“We stand united in defense of the fundamental democratic principle of checks and balances in governance and reject this attempt to subvert our democracy,” said Ann Toback, CEO of the Workers Circle.
Statement by Jewish Organizations on Moore v. Harper
Moore v. Harper is an appeal filed by North Carolina Republicans that seeks to give state legislatures near-total control over federal election laws, including but not limited to congressional redistricting. The rally will feature speakers from voting rights groups and Members of Congress.
“This case has implications for every voter in every state. Through Moore, politicians are trying to make it even easier for state legislatures to restrict the vote, draw gerrymandered election districts, and sabotage election results,” the statement reads. “That’s why the undersigned Jewish organizations will be rallying on December 7 at the U.S. Supreme Court and elsewhere to stand up for democracy and free and fair elections.”
