She was born in 1928 and grew up in a tenement on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and in the Bronx with Eastern European Yiddish-speaking parents and her brother and sisters. Yiddish was always a central thread in her life.  She attended the IWO (International Workers Order) Yiddish schools at all levels. Golda attended international Yiddish conferences and was a teacher and principal of a Yiddish school on Long Island. Golda was also president of a Yiddish Culture Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she taught a Yiddish class in the retirement community.
