from $150.00

Thursday, 6:30 – 8:00 PM: July 3, 10, 17, 24, 30

The classic Yiddish writers prepared the ground for a modern Yiddish literature. Leyb Naydus attained a special position with the youth. He sought a path between new and old, between his own and the alien, and was an important poet who died young. His work created a new path in Yiddish poetry, where the rhyme plays an important role in its musicality. A virtuoso, he especially drew in the youth who knew his poems by heart. The young poet brought a new sensibility to 20th-century writing.

Additional Info: This course is taught entirely in Yiddish.
