Position Overview

We are seeking a Manager of Institutional Giving to perform fundraising activities including donor identification and cultivation, foundations grant writing and grant management.

The Institutional Manager will bring a proactive approach to prospect development and management. This position reports to the Director of Development. This is a union position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, identify and qualify potential donors using various fundraising tools, philanthropy platforms and primary research.

  • Write, edit, and submit letters of interest, grant proposals, progress reports for foundations and major donors.

  • Work with Communication and Program staff to gather relevant data for fundraising and grant reporting purposes.

  • Carry out day-to-day institutional donor cultivation, communicating directly with foundations and corporate professionals.

  • Work closely with other members of the Development team and Finance to develop proposal budgets and process gifts.

  • Become proficient with the organization’s development systems to provide oversight on donor stewardship, including gift processing and donor data files updating.

  • Take the lead on Development reporting and support fundraising collaboration across the organization.

  • Support grants management and other institutional fundraising priorities, as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 5+ years’ professional experience in fundraising, preferably in a non-profit advocacy and community service organization.

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills; experience synthesizing complex information and developing messaging for multiple audiences (e.g., individual, and institutional funders.)

  • Detail oriented, with ability to work independently and flexibly; and comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong grant management experience with the ability to translate research into strategy/action.

  • Familiarity with fundraising software, digital communication skills and Microsoft Office 365.

  • Basic knowledge of Social Justice, Jewish culture and/or Yiddish would be an advantage.

  • Available for some (not frequent) work, at evening, in-person and virtual events.

Compensation

We offer a salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 plus benefits, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
