Yiddish, Race and Antiracism: A Survey with Anthony Russell

$180.00

7:30 – 9:00 PM ET: January 14, 20, 27; February 4, 11

How did previous generations of Yiddish kulturtuers (cultural activists) engage American systemic racism through their work? Can these efforts help us illuminate the fight against racism today? Join Workers Circle Creative Consultant Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell in an ongoing conversation engaging with the past and present of racism and antiracism in Yiddish language, literature and text, including screenings of in-depth interviews with leading scholars, translators and academics about what inspires their work with the Yiddish language materials covered in class.

Works of literature discussed in class will be available in both English translation and Yiddishe oysyes. Registration requires mandatory attendance to all class sessions; a recording of a session can be sent in case of absence.
